One Voice, One Hope
A national collaborative for suicide prevention in the UK.
Early in 2024, a conversation between 5 dads, bereaved by suicide, led to the creation of a vision for a national collaborative for suicide prevention in the UK.
This vision is bold but simple: ignite a movement that will help bring down the number of lives lost to suicide in the UK in a way that truly shifts the tide.
Following months of collaborative discussions among suicide prevention advocates across the UK, The Jordan Legacy published a report, outlining the pressing need for a new collaborative framework to address suicide prevention in the UK. This framework is called “One Voice, One Hope”.
One Voice, One Hope acknowledges that without the incredible efforts of all those working tirelessly to save lives every day, we would undoubtedly be losing even more than the 7000+ men, women and children who currently die by suicide annually in the UK.
As of the most recent data, the suicide rate in England and Wales for 2023 was 11.4 deaths per 100,000 people, marking the highest level since 1999. This represents an increase from 10.7 per 100,000 in 2022.
The fragmentation and competitive nature of the current suicide prevention landscape underscores the importance of a unified approach to effectively reduce the over 7,000 annual suicides in the UK.
One Voice, One Hope aims to be that unifying approach – a movement for change, driven by grassroots and third sector charities, CIC’s etc, whilst welcoming all those in the public and healthcare sector who are willing and able to collaborate toward achieving a society that finally is able to prevent all preventable suicides.
One Voice, One Hope envisions a national collaborative network uniting organisations, sectors, and individuals to address suicide prevention collectively. The initiative’s goals include fostering inclusion, amplifying the reach of suicide prevention projects, and creating systemic change.
One Voice, One Hope will work alongside, collaborate with and amplify the work done by the National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA) and other important campaigning organisations like The Baton of Hope UK and support infrastructure like the Hub of Hope.
One Voice, One Hope is a movement and a framework which aims to achieve something that hasn’t been done at scale previously; a truly collaborative and supportive network to prevent suicides in the UK..

Aims of One Voice One Hope
This initiative has two primary aims:
- Create a national hub/database of good practice in suicide prevention, particularly collaborative initiatives/projects.
- Starting with a series of pilot groups, develop “Collaborative Action Groups” (CAG’s), formerly known as “Individual Collaborative Network Groups” (ICNG’s), bringing together individuals and organisations, who operate in the same area of suicide prevention e.g. education, workplaces, healthcare, digital and online safety etc, and provide a framework to enable them to work together collaboratively, sharing knowledge, experiences and resources to generate on-the-ground activities/campaigns for measurable change.
One Voice, One Hope is the next logical step following on from The Jordan Legacy’s 2023, second edition action research report; “Moving Towards a Zero Suicide Society“.
Current Progress
Date: 24th June 2025:
Since early 2025, a core group of suicide prevention advocates have been meeting regularly to collaborate on the development of the following strategic activities:
- Brand development (logo/emblem)
- Agree a framework and protocol to pilot three 3 Collaborative Action Groups (Education/Digital & online safety/GP Suicide Prevention for Patients & the Community, including Safer Medication Prescribing)
- Develop a framework, protocol and process for collating and reviewing evidence of ‘good practice’ in suicide prevention to be held in national, central online resource hub.
The development of each of these activities is now well underway and we will be announcing a further update very soon as we prepare to roll-out the first practical actions for One Voice, One Hope.
