One Voice, One Hope - the vision comes to life!

Following weeks of discussions with suicide prevention advocates across the UK, this article presents a framework and road map for the introduction of a national collaborative for suicide prevention in the UK.

On September 23rd 2024, The Jordan Legacy hosted an online event and panel discussion to a registered audience of more than 300 people and organisations.

This event shared a vision for a free to join network, providing a psychologically safe space for those impacted by suicide to come together, online and physically, in a supportive environment, to share their experiences, knowledge and resources to help prevent all preventable suicides.

The original vision for One Voice, One Hope can be viewed here and a recording of the webinar can be watched via this link.

In November 2024, 25 individuals and organisations within the suicide prevention space were invited to participate in what was known as a Framework Building Workshop. Two sessions were held on November 20th and 26th, where participants were asked to discuss and challenge the concept and vision for a national collaborative movement.

Following the Framework Building sessions, participants (Framework Builders) were asked to respond to an online survey to input their personal views using a framework known as the COM-B model for Behaviour Change.

Between Christmas and early into the New Year, The Jordan Legacy pulled together all feedback received into a report, which you can download below.

If you are passionate about preventing suicides, please download the report and we would love to hear your views and how you might like to be involved (you can email hello@thejordanlegacy.com)

Will One Voice, One Hope replace existing support networks or organisations?

In a word, No.

During this process, it became evident that many of the 3,500 + known and registered suicide prevention charities in the UK and the many other additional, grassroots, third sector organisations, are looking for their tribe. Many tell us how difficult, challenging and exhausting, working alone or in silos can be.

One Voice, One Hope envisions a national collaborative network uniting organisations, sectors, and individuals to address suicide prevention collectively. The initiative’s goals include fostering inclusion, amplifying the reach of suicide prevention projects, and creating systemic change.

One Voice, One Hope will work alongside, collaborate and amplify the work done by the National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA) and other important campaigning organisations like The Baton of Hope UK and support infrastructure like the Hub of Hope.

One Voice, One Hope is a movement and a framework to attempt to achieve something which hasn’t been done at such scale previously, create true collaboration to help reduce suicides.
