Our 1 Million Steps Challenge

If your company is looking for ways to enhance the wellbeing of your employees whilst supporting a vitally important cause or you're looking to undertake a personal challenge that would help prevent more lives lost to suicide then sign up for our next One Million Steps challenge!

If we are to see any meaningful reduction in the annual number of suicide deaths and achieve our mission of moving towards a ‘Zero Suicide Society’, it is vital that we are continually able to raise funds.

Our definition of a Zero Suicide Society is one that is willing and able to do all it can to prevent all preventable suicides.

Currently suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50 and of men and women under 35. More than 200 school children, aged 10-17, take their own lives every year – surely this cannot be allowed to continue?!

Twice a year, The Jordan Legacy runs its 1 Million Steps challenge in partnership with One Million Steps: Building A Healthier World For Giving®

This is an opportunity for individuals and company employees to walk, jog, run 1 million steps in 100 days (500 miles) – that’s 10,000 steps every day on average.

To date, this challenge has helped raise more than £20,000 to enable us to continue with our mission to prevent all preventable suicides.

We will be announcing our next challenge for Spring 2026 soon!

If you take part you will:

  • Receive your own, personal One Million Steps crowdfunding page
  • Challenge yourself and compete with your friends and colleagues, whilst raising money for a good cause
  • Be able to use your own Google Fit or Apple Health devices (FitBit, Apple Watch, Garmin Connect etc) to track your steps and and you will receive a specially designed app (a One Million Steps pedometer is also available)
  • Receive support in the form of an introduction to mindfulness, strengthening and conditioning

From previous 1 million steps challenges, we know the experience can really benefit your wellbeing and mental health:

“The challenge has been incredible, not only has it given me a positive focus throughout my recovery it has brought together family and friends who have joined me on my walks.”
