Show 17 – The Power of Music to Heal – Interview with Frank Ritchie.

For this episode of Jordan’s Space, we speak with Frank Ritchie. Frank lost his son, Alan, to suicide in 2015, aged 31. Shortly before his son’s death at Lockerbie railway station in Scotland, Frank had begun to learn to play the ukulele. Sadly, it was a talent that Alan would never witness. Since then, Frank has mastered playing this instrument and learning songs chosen from some of his favourite artists. Frank now travels around the North of England and Scotland entertaining and brightening the days of those in hospitals, including psychiatric centres and other settings, whilst sharing an important message of hope with those he meets along the way.

Listen as Frank explains how his ukulele playing and the conversations he has are not just a therapy for those he meets but how playing his music helps him cope with his own grief and sense of loss.
