Show 14: ‘No Place To Lie’ an interview with author Helen Garlick .

On St. David’s Day, March 1st 1981, Helen Garlick was more than 4000 miles from home, in St. Louis, Missouri, when she received a call from her father. In the moments that followed, he explained that Helen’s brother, David, had died. At the time, Helen’s father described David’s death as ‘a terrible accident’.

Helen’s book, No Place To Lie takes the reader on an extraordinary journey through suicide trauma and shame to shine a light on what really happened to David and the startling secret her mother took to her grave. During this broadcast of Jordan’s Space, Helen shares her story, including becoming a family lawyer and mediator and talks about the devastating impact divorce can have on the mental health of those involved and how men, in particular, will often not open up and talk about their feelings.

A hugely moving and engaging interview. As someone said to us; “I could just sit and listen to Helen all day”
