Hitting mental ill-health and suicide for six!

On June 26th 2025, a group of cricketers hit mental ill-health for six!

It’s quite overwhelming to see the effort some people put in to go above and beyond to ensure that in Jordan’s memory, we’re able to continue with our mission to do whatever we can to prevent all preventable suicides.

Because of one man!

Charlie Brackley had a vision to raise £15000 in aid of The Jordan Legacy by getting 22+ players to take on a challenge to play a full-day test match in a single day!

From 8:30am (many had arrived at 6am to help set up!), on at very overcast Sunday, players from Hemingbrough Village Cricket Club, took on a Microlise (major sponsor) World XI, which, following 10 hours of cricket, saw Hemingborough win by the narrowest of margins and by a spectacular six hit off virtually the final ball, that cracked against the wooden screen, as if to symbolise that we had broken the stigma surrounding mental ill- health, at least for that day!

Charlie’s vision for the One Day Test, was to symbolise the strength it takes to get through life’s toughest days by attempting to play a full test match in a single day. On Sunday, cricketers, supporters, and mental health advocates came together for a full day of cricket and community.

One of stall holders messaged later to say; ” It was great to see such love, companionship and people enjoying what life has to offer. If we all offer that to each other after this event, it will help us all deal with our little worlds with the same kind of love and support.”

There was live music, wonderful food and drink stalls, tombola’s and a live auction, with some incredible prizes, all donated by people who care – the auction was masterfully managed by Master Auctioneer (for one day only!) Chris Brackley (Charlie’s Dad), who also doubled up, in his hi-viz tabard, as director of car parking!

Putting on an event like this is more than just what happens on the day – Chris told Steve, our founder, how Charlie had personally ironed on all the sponsor’s transfers onto each and every one of the player’s shirts! This is what passion for an important cause looks like!!

We want to say a a public and personal thank you to Charlie, Chris, Microlise and all the other sponsors who cared enough to support a small CIC that is trying to make a difference in memory of Jordan and so many others we lose to suicide.

The weather didn’t seem to put too many hardy Yorkshire folk off!
