Christmas lights switch on in memory of local teenagers
The village of Kirk Deighton is somewhere Steve has regularly cycled through for the past 15 years; a village that has taken on a much greater importance to us at The Jordan Legacy since getting to know the parents of two young people from there. Both teenagers, Ethan and Robyn died by suicide within days of each other in 2023, Ethan in November and Robyn on Christmas Day.
In November 2024, Steve and his wife, Laurence, attended the village’s Christmas light switch-on, a wonderful event which included a visit from Father Christmas, the Wetherby Silver Band and the Wetherby Lions, as well as sales of the village’s popular festive calendar – the proceeds of which were gratefully received by The Jordan Legacy this year.
Precariously balanced on a crate – a make do platform, Steve spoke to the dozens of locals who had come out on a very chilly evening, about the the importance of their support to enable us to help prevent other families from having to experience what Ethan and Robyn’s families have and our own family too.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out that evening and made a real difference.
