Chris and Zoë’s wings of courage!
On Friday 26th September at 1:30pm, with an ominous sounding weather forecast that morning, Chris and Zoë Bishop were cleared for take-off. The only issue was that they wouldn’t exactly be riding in comfort. In fact, they wouldn’t even be sitting inside the plane but standing on top of it – otherwise known as a wing walk!
They were, of course, doing this to raise money for The Jordan Legacy.
Both Chris and Zoë are passionate about issues relating to mental health and the wellbeing of others. This is what led Zoë to get involved with Renew HG1 in Harrogate, a drop-in centre for people who feel lonely and isolated to stop by, without any appointment, to have a cuppa and chat with friendly faces, whilst being able to interact with others who feel the same.
“Both Chris and I really wanted to fundraise for a local charitable organisation that supports mental health and suicide prevention. I have met Steve numerous times and The Jordan Legacy has been supportive of our work at Renew HG1, so we felt this was the right organisation to support. The work they do is so important and we’ve both been touched by Steve’s story about the loss of his son and what he has accomplished during the past 5 years.”
Chris and Zoë initially set themselves a fundraising goal to reach £500 but by the time they’d completed their incredible wing walk, they’d raised more than £1000!
Possibly our most daring fundraisers yet, we want to say a massive thank you to Chris and Zoë – you’re our aeronautic heroes!
