It wasn’t until a female neighbour heard the screams and shouts coming from Andrew’s house, as he was being attacked by his former wife, and the neighbour said to him: “You know this domestic abuse don’t you?” that he made the decision that something had to change.
During this episode of Jordan’s Space, you can hear how Andrew finally made a decision to leave the relationship and how, following a difficult few years, he rebuilt his life. He, now, shares his story with audiences from school students to adults to help them spot the signs that they might be in an abusive relationship.
Andrew also supports men’s mental health and has recently launched his podcast ‘Men on Show’ where he interviews ordinary men with amazing stories:
Over a 3 year period, from 2019, Kent and Medway Suicide Prevention Programme worked with Kent Police to highlight that 30% of all suspected suicides locally are individuals who have been impacted by domestic abuse, either as a victim or perpetrator.
If the subject of domestic abuse is important to you, we’d encourage you to listen to this episode and hear from Andrew as he shares his philosophical and at times, humorous take on his experience and his message of hope for anyone who finds themselves trapped in an abusive relationship.
